Every round of golf and every duck hunt have a story with a memory attached to it. Our hand-crafted Wood Ducks are a celebration of those moments. Share a Wood Duck with someone you love, respect and admire. Wood Ducks make great gifts for all outdoor enthusiasts. Hunters appreciate the different species of duck, and golfers enjoy seeing their old wood drivers given new life.

Our individually hand-crafted Wood Ducks are created by combining a vintage wooden driver golf club with a wood-carved duck head. The duck head is carved from basswood, colored with an oil-based stain and fitted with real glass eyes. The head and club are carefully matched to create a one-of-a-kind decoy replica.

Accompanying each hand-crafted Wood Duck is a brief historical background of the golf club head’s origin and description of your duck species.

Artist Jim Kasmarek resides in Wisconsin and is an avid duck hunter. His father was an outstanding golfer, so he combined his love of both to create “Wood Ducks.” The artistry is obvious…the personality and life experience is where the heart of the art lies.

What is a Wood Duck?

At Wood Duck Nation, we intentionally leave the old wood drivers “as is” to maintain their vintage integrity. Our wide variety of persimmon and laminated woods give a uniqueness to each of the wood ducks. Since wood headed drivers have been replaced by metal head drivers, all of our club heads can be considered vintage. However, some club heads are more vintage than others. Club ages range from the 1920s to the 1970s. Expertly combined with the correct duck species, each wood duck has it’s own personality and character!

Club head choices:

Vintage

1950s and 1960s golf clubs are made from persimmon wood and maple laminates. Also includes signature clubs by famous golfers such as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan, etc.

Limited Edition

1930s and 1940s era clubs which are the rarest. Most bottom plates are inscribed with driver, spoon or brassie. These are usually “plain” face and made with solid persimmon wood. These club heads are full of the character that comes with age.

Fancy Face

The “Fancy Face” was an innovation in the golfing industry during the early 1900s. The colorful inserts were added to persimmon wood driver heads on both hickory and steel shafted clubs. The All American Classic
Derived from old French, “Malart” or Wild Drake, the mallard is an exceptionally beautiful and classic referent for the duck family. One of the most popular in the Wood Duck Nation, its glossy bottle-green head and white collar are the true markings of a mallard.

Canvasback
The Aristocrat
Referred to as “King Can” by hunters, this regal looking duck fits in almost any home decor. The canvasback is known for masking well into its habitat, and will surely make a subtle statement where ever he is placed.

This strikingly good looking fellow is quite an American
treasure. His mask of green feathers around his eyes and the famous “bald” cream color spot makes it hard to disguise from the fans.

Loon
The Ontario Swimmer
With his very own “World Capital” in Mercer, Wisconsin, this sleek looking swimmer is favorite for anyone with a cabin. The mystical call of the loon summons the early morning hours of a still Northwoods lake. Between the color matching of the perfect wood and artistic flare, the loon is sure to be stunning and unique from one loon to the next.

The Wood Duck is regarded as one of the most stunningly beautiful ducks in North America. It is also a “perching” duck making them comfortable in trees as well as on the water. Truly a unique species of waterfowl.

Mandarin
The Love Duck
The beautiful Mandarin duck can be found in Eastern Russia, China, Korea and Japan. In Asian culture it is part of Feng Shui tradition. For newly married couples the Mandarin duck represents peace, fidelity, and plentiful offspring.

Gadwall
Gaddie
The Gadwall is a puddle duck that inhabits central North America. Also referred to as the “gray mallard” or “gray duck.” The unique wood grains accentuate the beauty of this wonderful duck. This Gadwall head is carved from uniquely grained basswood and is only available on a limited basis.

Black Duck
“Ole’ Red Leg”
The black duck is native to the eastern North America. It’s scientific name is Anas rubripes. Anas means duck and rubripes is defined as ruber (red) and pes (foot). It is very close in shape to the mallard and is considered to be a prized game bird for hunters.

Wood Duck Bookends

These handsome bookends have a special pin design which allows the wood ducks to be removed for viewing and then replaced with stability. Each bookend features a laser engraved carving of cattails. Vintage Club Carrier
Unique eclectic style
Our Club Carrier is a replica of the antique club carriers used in the late 1800s and early 1900s. In those days players usually used 4-5 clubs to play a round of golf. The old duffers would forgo a traditional golf bag and use these carriers. The leather bag was for an extra ball and some tees. The Club Carrier is handmade using a solid oak handle, genuine leather straps, and a leather skin bag. Considered to be functional art, these carriers have a variety of uses including and not limited to hickory shaft tournament or league play, displays for hickory shafted club decorations and modern day driving range club carrier.
